German Doner Kebab has announced plans to open 12 new restaurants across six major UK cities before the end of the year.

Despite the ongoing challenges caused the coronavirus crisis, the 47-strong fast-casual chain has said it will be pushing on with expansion plans following a significant 48% like-for-like sales boost through the Eat Out to Help Out initiative in August.

The United Brands-backed franchise will create 480 new jobs with the openings, which are set for Liverpool, Nottingham, Bradford, Plymouth, London and Edinburgh.

The business has also outlined plans to open more international sites, including two restaurants in Canada, two in Sweden, and one in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“We have found ourselves in very challenging times however there continues to be a huge demand for the German Doner Kebab experience throughout the UK and our international growth regions,” said CEO Imran Sayeed.

“We are excited to build further momentum in our plans for growth and to be creating hundreds of new jobs throughout the country as we maintain our mission of building the fast-casual brand of the future.

“Our recent performance is testament to our wider strategy of product innovation, the ingenuity and speed of our operational team and the support we have had from our partners.”
