G1 Group, the Scottish hospitality operator, is launching a new restaurant The Wordsmith, in North Bridge, Edinburgh, MCA understands.
The brasserie is opening in the Scotsman building, with the concept inspired by the hustle and bustle of the former newsroom.
The food is described as cutting edge and contemporary, with a provincial and seasonal menu from head chef Christopher Niven, a contestant in MasterChef: The Professionals 2017.
G1, which has a growing collection of bars, pubs, restaurants, clubs and hotels, acquired The Scotsman Hotel from JJW Hotels in February 2017 – the biggest single venue purchase in the group’s history.
