Five Guys, the popular US burger chain, has strengthened its regional openings pipeline after securing a site in Milton Keynes and its second unit in Leeds, M&C Report has learnt.

The 24-strong group has confirmed it will open at the Xscape scheme in Milton Keynes this July, which will follow its second opening in Leeds, on the former Ace Clothing unit in the city’s Duncan Street in June.

The company, which is in legals on a number of further sites, is also thought to be close to securing a unit in Watford and in another London suburb.

The group recently secured a site at the Meadowhall shopping scheme in Sheffield, and has openings lined up in London’s Villiers Street, Ealing and Glasgow’s Braehead.

It hopes to add 22 units in total across the country this year.

The group, which launched in the UK in the summer 2013, has also secured a site in Southampton.

It hopes to eventually operate 175 to 200 “high volume sites” in the UK and plans to launch in Continental Europe over the next 18 months.
