Five Guys, the fast-growing burger concept, has secured a site in Gare du Nord, Paris, for an opening before the end of this year.

The site is expected to be one of multiple locations the group looks to open in the French capital this year, with managing director John Eckbert telling MCA that an opening in Paris was getting “closer and closer”.

The company is on target for 30 openings in the UK this year and has further openings lined up in Thanet, Luton and Harrogate.

On opening in Spain this year, Eckbert said: “We also have a prime property under contract in Madrid – with several more in negotiations”

It recently secured a site in Aberdeen for an opening in November this year.

The company is set to open its first two sites in the North East in the next couple of months.

The 40-strong group, which also has openings in Watford and London’s King’s Cross, lined up for the first half, will open on the former Vision Express unit in Newcastle’s Northumberland Street and at the Metro Centre in Gateshead.
