JD Abbasi, formerly of Farmacy and Giraffe, has stepped down as chief executive of Feng Sushi, the London-based Japanese sushi restaurant and delivery company, as it continues to consolidate its estate.

Abbasi, who was previously a regional operations director at Giraffe, and had stints at Carluccio’s and Strada, had been with the company, which caterer the Genuine Dining Co acquired from Luke Johnson last summer, for less than a year.

His departure comes after the brand had recently closed its most prominent site in London’s Borough Market. It has disposed of a further four sites over the last year, including its Royal Festival Hall site, which was acquired by Honest Burgers.

It still has sites in West Hampstead, Notting Hill Gate and Fulham.

It is thought that Genuine is exploring the disposal of the remaining three sites in order to focus on its core catering business.
