City District Ltd, the company behind the Fazenda and Picanha concepts, has closed its Bossa site in Leeds.

The Brazilian grill restaurant opened less than a year ago near Leeds’ Corn Exchange.

City Distruct co-founder and director Tomas Maunier said: “We tried the casual dining market and it wasn’t as successful for us as we had anticipated. However, we have not ruled out opening Bossa in the future when the casual dining market is more stable and less saturated.

“The other brands are flourishing and therefore we will be concentrating on Picanha and Fazenda – doing what we do best in the premium casual market.”

The group currently operates three sites under the Fazenda concept in Granary Wharf, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester. A further site will open in Edinburgh next year.

It also owns the Picanha restaurant in Chester.
