A north-west restaurateur has opened a second restaurant under his Fat Bull brand as part of plans to grow the group and roll-out more restaurants across the north west, M&C Report has learnt.

Sam Crompton, who opened his first site in October 2013 at Ashton-in-Makerfield, south of Wigan, will open the second Fat Bull in Wheelton, Chorley, in mid-October after acquiring the leasehold of the former Red Cat. Leisure specialists Fleurets acted on the deal.

Crompton anticipates adding a third site in 2015.

He told M&C Report: “When this site is up and running we will roll-out more from there.” Crompton said he will grow the group within Cheshire and hopes to reach five within five years.

The emphasis of the restaurant will be on the grill, with lots of steaks and charcoal-grilled foods as well as fish and vegetarian options. The menu will include sharing boards and pub classics alongside the seafood and grill specialities.

Crompton said the expansion has been funded “in-house” as a family business.
