London Brasseries, the restaurant group founded by Andrew Bonnell, former managing director of Tootsies and Pitcher & Piano, will open its third site in April at Portsmouth Harbour. The company, which is backed by private investment, has taken a 3,058 sq ft first floor waterfront unit in Gunwharf Quays, Land Securities’ £200m mixed-use development. The Waterfront Brasserie will include 101 covers internally and a further 68 covers outside. It will offer a brasserie-style, all day dining menu with a focus on fresh, seasonal produce. Tracey Mills, director at Davis Coffer Lyons, who acted on behalf of Gunwharf Quays Management, said: “The shopping centre catering market is undergoing something of a revolution, with customers wanting quality dining offers that enhance their overall shopping experience rather than simply providing snack. “London Brasseries is raising the game in this market with a quality offer that is a draw in its own right.” London Brasseries was launched in November last year, with the opening of its first restaurant, The Brasserie in Wandsworth. The group quickly followed this with the opening of its second site, the Abaco at Bluewater, a tapas restaurant, at the turn of the year.
