The Evening Standard has revealed the shortlist for its London Restaurant Awards.

On the shortlist are: A Wong, a Chinese restaurant in Pimlico; Lyle’s, Shoreditch’s modern British newcomer; French classic cuisine stalwart Otto’s in Clerkenwell; modern European Notting Hill landmark The Ledbury; Farringdon’s British dining room The Quality Chop House; and The Woodford, a new French opening in South Woodford.

Restaurant writer Joe Warwick, one of the judges, said: “The shortlist for the Champagne Laurent-Perrier Restaurant of the Year is wonderfully eclectic, just like London’s restaurant scene. All of the restaurants on the list have had a strong year, whether they’ve just opened or have been going for over a decade.

“From the City to Notting Hill and from Pimlico to South Woodford, it’s a list that takes in a lot of London. Service, style, ambition and — of course — superb cooking are what these restaurants all share, whether it’s envelope-pushing Chinese, stripped-back British, modern European or old-fashioned French.”
