Eggslut has secured the former Pix Pintxos bar on Portobello Road in Notting Hill, for its first UK opening, with two further sites under offer.

The site was secured via Cedar Dean Group Leisure, which has been working with its sole European franchisee ITICO F+B – which also holds the franchise rights for The Halal Guys in the UK – to source units in London.

Sammy Weinbaum, head of acquisitions at CDG Leisure, told MCA the location ticked a lot of boxes, with all-day trade coming from office workers, residents and a large tourist population. “It’s a cool area where a lot of new brands start out,” said Weinbaum, “and it has that great thing of a being seven-day trade location”.

He said that Eggslut were a very Instagrammable brand and had built up a huge following on social media, despite only having six locations in the US, which he said has led to companies taking an interest in it internationally.

The Notting Hill site is spread across the ground floor and basement, with around 750 sq ft of floor space and will offer both takeaway and eat-in.

Weinbaum said it was looking for further locations for Eggslut within the M25, with “a further two sites under offer”. “They are hoping to open three or four this year and probably the same again next year,” he added.

Pix Pintxos has three remaining sites in London, in Soho, Carnaby and Covent Garden.
