Easter could mark the start of an improved picture for trading among pubs and restaurants, according to a new note from Peel Hunt that also predicts a “positive narrative” at The Restaurant Group’s next update.

Peel Hunt’s Consumer Toolkit says: “Pub trading continues to be volatile with the weather the main factor. High street locations have generally performed better than country sites. However, Easter looks as though it could mark the start of a much desired improvement in the trading backdrop.

It adds: “Restaurants look to have shrugged off the weather with Prezzo’s strong finish to 2012 having carried over to 2013. We expect a similarly positive narrative when The Restaurant Group next updates.”
