Alex Dawson has stepped down from Soho House Group, where he was overseeing the growth of its restaurant brands, to join Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) as an operations director, MCA has learnt.

Dawson joined Soho House last November to head up its new joint venture vehicle Rollout Restaurants/Quentin Restaurants, including the expansion of the Dirty Burger, Pizza East and Chicken Shop concepts.

Previously head of operations franchise at Greene King, he will work across M&B’s Castle Pubs estate in his new role.

At Soho House he took over from former YO! Sushi operations director Gary Thomas in overseeing the day-to-day operation and expansion of its restaurant brands and development of new concepts, including Farmshop, Café Monico and grab and go format called House Kitchen.

In April, Rollout Restaurants secured a £15m revolving credit facility from RBS to fund its next phase of expansion.

The company said it was planning to add 10 to 15 sites a year to its portfolio and that the funding would support the expansion of Pizza East, Dirty Burger and in particular Chicken Shop.
