Russell Norman and Richard Beatty, the operators of London restaurants Polpetto and Spuntino, have confirmed that their next opening in the capital will be called da Polpo and will open on 2nd June.

The second Polpo in Maiden Lane, which is based on a Venetian bacaro, is expected to be slightly bigger than its Soho-based sister restaurant, with around 70-covers.

Norman, a former operations director at Caprice Holdings, opened the first Polpo with Beatty in Beak Street near the end of 2009

The pair had intended to open their latest restaurant, Spuntino, at the Maiden Lane site after walking away from a unit on Rupert Street due to growing frustration over protracted negotiations.

But then the pair managed to break the deadlock on the Rupert Street site, leading to the opening of Spuntino earlier this year.

Property advisor Shelley Sandzer is understood to have advised Polpo on the Covent Garden deal.
