Cote, the French bistro chain backed by Richard Caring, has secured a prime location in London’s Sloane Square, M&C Report understands. It is thought that that 33-strong chain has secured a new lease at a nil premium on the Chelsea Brasserie site at Sloane Square Hotel. The new Cote, which is expected to open later this year and will become the group’s 19th in the capital, is situated near the former Oriel site on which Rex Restaurants plans to open its new brasserie-style Colbert eaterie this autumn. The team behind London nightclubs Mahiki and Whisky Mist – Guy Pelly and Marc Burton – are also set to launch a Mexican-inspired cocktail bar in the basement of the hotel called Tonteria in October. Shelley Sandzer is believed to have advised Cote on the Chelsea Brasserie deal. Cote, which is believed to have a number of further sites in the pipeline, opened its latest site in Exeter last weekend. In June, company, which recently denied sale rumours, opened a flagship site in central London, after acquiring the Auberge restaurant in St Christophers Place from Town Centre Restaurants (TCR).
