Cote Restaurants, the Alex Scrimgeour-led group, has invested over a million pounds each on its next two openings in Harrogate and Welwyn Garden City.

The company has invested over a million pounds on a new 180-cover restaurant, which sits on a prominent corner of Welwyn Garden City’s Howardsgate and includes a large outdoor dining space.

The c80-strong brand has invested over a million pounds on refurbishing its 140-cover restaurant in Harrogate’s Albert Street. The site, which is part of the town’s former Beales department store, will open on 4 July.

Both new openings will create 50 jobs.

On the Welwyn opening, Scrimgeour said: “Our location places us right in the heart of the c action; close to Welwyn’s main shopping facilities. We look forward to bringing something new to complement Welwyn’s already thriving dining scene. We feel confident that our combination of warm and welcoming service, simple, freshly prepared French food, and excellent value for money will be popular in this family-oriented and friendly community.”

On opening in Harrogate, he said: “Harrogate is a hive of activity, with beautiful hotels, popular theatres, independent shops and the historic Turkish Baths all drawing locals and tourists alike into the town centre. We look forward to opening our doors to guests in Harrogate and whether it be a brunch for tourists, lunch for workers or a pre-theatre dinner for locals, we’re confident we can offer something for everyone.”
