Noodle bar chain Chopstix Group is to open a new Yangtze site in Bluewater shopping centre.

Speaking at an event hosted by leisure property company Cedar Dean, MD Jon Lake said the site would open next month.

It is understood to be the first Yangtze branded site to open since the group acquired the nine-strong business in November last year, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal, backed by Metro Bank, took Chopstix to +80 sites, with the group aiming to grow both brands side-by-side.

Speaking at the time, co-founder Menashe Sadik said there were already several other deals on the table and that the group would not limit itself to acquisitions within Oriental-influenced sector.

Launched in 2006, Yangtze operates nine units all within shopping centres, including Birmingham’s Merryhill Centre and the Meadowhall Centre in Sheffield.

On plans for the Yangtze brand, the group told MCA: “We will not limit ourselves to a figure for the growth of Yangtze, because as potential new sites come up, we are now in the fortunate position of having two premium brands and can decide on a case by case basis, which is better suited to a particular location.”
