Prezzo, the Jonathan Kaye-led group, has secured a further London site for Chimichanga, its fast growing Mexican brand.

The group, is looking to ramp up the expansion of the 29-strong brand this year, has secured a site at the Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth next to the recently opened Wagamama unit for an opening later this summer.

The company will open two further sites over the next month in Wimbledon and Maidstone.

Earlier this month, Kaye said that new openings under the group’s Mexican brand will again be in double figures this year, as the concept has moved from “a source for opportunistic expansion to a strong offer in its own right”.

He said that the chain was also currently seeking a flagship site in central London for brand.

It has also invested in a separate management team for the concept led by operations director Peter Morrison. Average spend per head at the chain is around the £18 mark.

The group has upgraded three sites so far this year with new branding and plans to refresh the rest of the estate over the next few years.
