Mexican restaurant group Chilango, which last year raised just over £3.4m through crowdfunding, is to strengthen its regional presence next year, with openings lined up in Bristol, Glasgow and Leeds.

MCA understands that the group, which is led by Eric Partaker and Dan Houghton, will make its debut in the South West, with an opening in Bristol’s High Street.

The company, which is exploring international expansion opportunities, has also lined up openings in Bold Street, Leeds, and the Sauchiehall Building in Glasgow for next year.

Chilango opened its first site in the North West in Manchester, earlier this year and recently launch in the new Boxpark scheme in Croydon.

MCA understands that the company has a number of sites under offer both regionally and in London as it looks to kick start its strategy to open 50 sites across 20 UK cities by 2021.

The group also plans to introduce international franchises, starting with Dubai in the Middle East. It said that its expansion plans will generate around 600 new jobs.

The company is looking for overseas franchise partners who have food and beverage operating experience and a minimum of $1m to invest.
