Charterhouse Leisure has said it’s “comfortably on target” to be operating 16 outlets under its Coal Grill & Bar concept by the end of 2015, with sites already in discussion for 2016 and 2017.

The group has confirmed that it will open its ninth Coal at the £250m Southwater development in Telford town centre in mid November following a £700,000 investment at the 100-cover, 3,500 sq ft site. It’s third opening for the brand this year and will be followed by a site in Swindon later this year.

John Gater, chief executive of Coal Grill & Bar, said: “We consider our locations carefully when opening a new restaurant. The location of our latest restaurant opening in Telford provides us with the perfect mix of shopping and leisure facilities.

“We have experienced great success in opening in locations with the combination of the two which provides a platform for trading across the day. We have a further six restaurants due to open in 2015 taking the total number of units to 16.”

The company added that it’s “comfortably on target to be operating 16 branches by the end of 2015, with sites already in discussion for 2016 and 2017”.
