Charterhouse Leisure, the Coal Grill & Bar operator, has secured a site in Telford, Shropshire, and is closing in on further acquisitions, M&C Report has learnt.

The most recent opening was at Cheshire Oaks and chairman James Horler said the group is “moving on” with its next opening at Gloucester Quays.

Work has not yet begun on the Telford restaurant, which will be its ninth, but Horler said it would measure 3,000 sq ft and mirror the design of the sites in Cheshire Oaks and Milton Keynes.

In April the group announced plans to add another 18 sites over three years after Beringea and Octopus VCT invested £800,000 in the business, in addition to extra facilities from Barclays, to support the rollout.

Horler said: “Our pipeline is strengthening all the time. There’s a number of sites that we’re moving on and the good thing is that with the funding in place, the management have a clear run to go on and build sites.”

Charterhouse Leisure is focusing on the M4 corridor, the West Midlands and the north west for expansion.
