CAU, the Graham Hall-led, sister concept to Gaucho, has secured its first site Leeds.

As previously revealed by MCA, that the 20-strong concept has taken a unit at the £165m Victoria Gate development in the city, next to Le Pain Quotidien.

The group, which is backed by Equistone, will open its latest site next month in Leamington Spa, with further openings lined up in Exeter and Southampton’s Watermark scheme.

It recently opened its second site in in Scotland, in Edinburgh, and a restaurant in Harrogate. It is also in talks on sites in York and Ealing.

Equistone completed the acquisition of CAU and sister brand Gaucho at the start of the year in a deal valued at c100m. It is believed to have secured a capex facility of £20m as part of the acquisition

It is looking to recreate the group of restaurants it is developing in the North West, by adding further units to site in Brindleyplace, Birmingham.

CAU, which was launched in Amsterdam, expects to open a further international site by the end of 2016.
