Carluccio’s, the all-day Italian café chain led by Simon Kossoff, has continued to strengthen its pipeline of openings in the UK.

The company, which operates c80 sites in the UK and 11 overseas, has secured a unit at the entrance of The Spires shopping centre in Barnet, and is currently in talks on further openings in Sheffield, York and Oxford.

The group, which has already opened in Harrogate, Newcastle, Shrewsbury and West Bridgford,  has agreed a 25-year lease on the 3,500sq ft Barnet site, with a rent believed to be circa £100k pa.

Carluccio’s, which hopes to open its first site in the US later this year, plans to open 10 sites in the UK in its current financial year.

The group has already lined up a number of new openings including a site at Heathrow’s Terminal 4, its second in Birmingham, a unit in Bracknell for 2015 and an opening at Glasgow Silverburn.

Kossoff has previously stated that the brand could eventually grow to 150 sites in the UK.
