Canteen, the winner of the Observer’s Best UK Restaurant 2007 award, is opening its second site at the Royal Festival Hall (RFH) in London in June.

The new restaurant at the Southbank Centre will be located in the re-landscaped Festival Square of the newly refurbished RFH.

The outlet will have 260 covers, with booth seating, communal tables and a covered and heated outdoor area, as well as a bar.

The fast casual dining restaurant, which was founded by Dominic Lake, Patrick Clayton Malone and Cass Titcombe, opened its first site in Spitalfields in October 2005.

The venue serves high quality modern British cuisine for an average spend of £11-£20 per head.

The brand was designed to be rolled out and the three company partners have plans to open further sites in London as opportunities arise.
