Byron, the chain of up-market burger restaurants, has confirmed it has secured what will become its 30th site in London, at Enstar Capital’s mixed-use development on the Strand.

As revealed by M&C Report last May the group, which is led by Tom Byng, has agreed a 25-year lease on a 3,900sq ft ground floor and basement unit at the scheme that real estate group Enstar has now secured the freehold of for £7m.

The group will pay an annual rent of £250,000 pax for the site, which it plans to open early in 2014.

Nick Weir at Shelley Sandzer, who advised on the deal, said: “409 the Strand has a fabulous history in the London restaurant scene. The upper floor are a very good investment for a change of use to residential and the ground and basement floors will provide a great location for Byron, whose burger restaurants continue to draw a big fan base. ”

The 31-strong Byron recently secured sites in Manchester and Liverpool and will open at the iconic Soho Pizzeria site in London’s Beak Street later this month,

It is thought that possible sites in Leeds and Clapham are also being explored.
