Alan Yau’s casual-dining Thai chain Busaba Eathai will launch its very first bar within its Old Street site this evening.

The company said that the new bar menu will be infused with “classic South-East Asian flavours”, has been created in collaboration with HHT.

Busaba’s chefs have also added a few bar snack highlights discovered on their recent trip to Thailand to the new offer.

The whole site has been closed for a refurb.

Earlier this year, the group announced plans to double its estate over the next three years, with two more London openings in 2014 and an extra focus being placed on further expansion outside of the capital.

The Phoenix Capital Partners-backed group - which currently has nine restaurants in London and one in Oxfordshire - will open in Shoreditch and Kingston in the summer and is now actively looking for more sites in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Bristol.

It is also thought to be close to securing an opening at the O2 Arena.
