Buenos Aires Restaurants, the group led by Gareth Lloyd-Jones - the former chief executive of Gourmet Holdings, is to return to the expansion trail with the opening of a new site in Surrey, MCA understands.

The group, which is chaired by Steve Hill, the former chief executive of Wagamama and current chairman of Pho, is to open on the former Ma’Jong site in The Heart scheme in Walton-on-Thames.

Lloyd-Jones and Hill acquired the then six-strong business as part of a management buy-in at the end of 2015.

The pair said at the time that they believed there was a significant opportunity to grow the business further across the UK in the years ahead.

During his 10 years at Gourmet Holdings, Lloyd-Jones grew the coffee and restaurant business from two sites in central London to over 48 locations nationally.

Buenos Aires currently operates sites in Chiswick, Wimbledon, Horsham, Richmond and Reigate.
