Jose Pizarro, the co-founder of Brindisa restaurants, has secured a site for his second solo venture in Bermondsey Street, south London, which will be called Pizarro. The chef has taken new 20-year lease with a rent of £75,000 per annum on the Bermondsey Kitchen site in the street, on which he opened his first solo venture, Jose, a small tapas and sherry bar, in May. His new full-size Spanish restaurant, which is expected to have around 80 covers, will open before the end of this year. Pizarro left Brindisa Tapas Kitchens, the restaurant side of the Brindisa business, last year, after five years with the company he co-founded and where he was executive chef. Property advisor Shelley Sandzer acted on behalf of the landlord of Bermondsey Kitchen.
