The founders of steak and lobster concept Bourgee say they want to grow to be a national brand and hope to open several sites next year.
James Welling and Mark Baumann told MCA that after the launch of their second site next month in Chelmsford they would open in Bury St Edmunds in January with “several more openings” expected in 2017, including in Norwich.
Following that, the plan is to build up the company’s presence in Essex and East Anglia before pushing out to the rest of the UK.
Welling told MCA: “We want to grow organically. We already have a strong head office team but it makes sense to keep the geography relatively tight to start with.”
The “affordable luxury” format trades throughout the day with set meals of two courses available for £12.50 at lunch and £17.50 in the evening.
Welling said: “We deliberately didn’t set out to target any one demographic. The offer and the price point means we genuinely appeal to a cross section of people. There are a lot of places where this offer can work.”
