Boisdale, the London-based Scottish restaurant group, is to launch its third and largest site in the capital on 18 April, in Canary Wharf.

Spread over two floors, the new £2.7m, 12,000sq ft venue is situated at the west end of the Cabot Place shopping mall.

Boisdale, which has outlets in Bishopsgate and Belgravia and also runs the Lamb at Hindon in Salisbury, Wiltshire, has hired Michelin-trained Andy Rose as executive head chef, while Geoff Todd will be general manager after three years running Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.

The company has asked TV presenter, musician and former Squeeze member Jools Holland to be patron of music at the venue, which is aiming to become a spiritual home to jazz, blues and soul music.

The 220-cover venue will comprise a main restaurant, four private dining rooms and a caviar and oyster bar, as well as a cigar shop and smoking terrace extending over 2,000sq ft. The venue will employ 125 full-time members of staff, including 18 chefs.
