Blazing Bird, the virtual restaurant brand from Las Iguanas, could become a physical restaurant at some point, MCA has learnt.
Mos Shamel, Las Iguanas managing director, told MCA there was a chance Blazing bird could open a standalone site, which was encouraged by its early success.
Shamel said the grilled chicken brand, which is operational at 53 sites, was conceived just 10 days before it launched.
He said the brand utilised existing infrastructure, kitchen resources and staff skills, while bringing in additional revenue into sites.
Shamel said the focus would remain on Las Iguanas and not on creating more virtual restaurants, or white label brands.
He said: “I don’t want to throw another brand into the kitchens just yet, otherwise you end up becoming some weird commercial kitchen. Our main focus as Las Iguanas and always be.
“Where Blazing Bird will end up, I would love it to continue to be a big success, and maybe there’s a chance it could open its own standalone site.
“We know this works across the country and we have all these areas we operate in. It would be great to say one day, lets open a 3-4,000sq ft business and make it into a proper restaurant brand.”
