Bitters ‘n’ Twisted, the Midlands-based pub and restaurant operator, has appointed property agents to search for potential sites for a rollout of its Bodega brand, M&C Report has learnt.

Managing director Matt Scriven said the success of the Worcester outlet – the second Bodgea and the company’s first site outside Birmingham – had confirmed the South American themed restaurant brand’s potential.

He said: “The search will be predominantly focussed on the Midlands area for the moment – ideally an hour’s distance from Birmingham. The plan is to do one or two a year from now on.

“Worcester is delivering some solid figures now. It was a tough time to open in November, with Christmas just around the corner. But I’m pleased with how well it has settled in. Hopefully it gives us a good platform going forward.”

Scriven said the company’s latest opening - Marmalade Bistro and Bar at the Repertory Theatre in Birmingham’s Centenary Square – had proved “a challenge”.

He said: “As expected it has been a really big learning curve. At the moment we have a venue that is very much dependent on how busy the theatre is and we are trying to attract a wider audience.

“It was a risk and I knew that at the time we took it on but it’s an opportunity to do something very different for us.”
