Bill’s, the rapidly-growing restaurant chain backed by Richard Caring, is to further grow its presence in London, after securing two pub sites in Putney and Kingsway, as it heads beyond the 20-unit mark.

The 17-strong chain, which recently acquired the original Kitchen Italia site in Westfield London for its first shopping centre opening, has taken the Pitcher & Piano in Kingsway from Marston’s and the Slug & Lettuce in Putney from Stonegate. Both are set to open by the end of spring.

It is thought to be close to securing a further London “village” site.

Bill’s, which hopes to open 12 sites in total this year, opened on the former Canteen site in Covent Garden last week and in Oxford yesterday. It will open in St Albans on 1 April and Bristol on 8 April.

The chain is thought to be producing average weekly sales of c£30,000 and is on course to deliver full-year sales of between £20m-£25m.

Davis Coffer Lyons advised on the Putney deal, while Shelley Sandzer advised on the Kingsway deal.
