American dining concept the Big Easy has appointed former Byron and PizzaExpress employee Steve Rockey as its new head of people, M&C Report understands.

Rockey joins the three-strong company, which recently opened in Canary Wharf, after taking a nine month career sabbatical, although during this time he provided people consultancy support for Polpo.

He previously spent nearly three years as head of people at Byron and six years as human resources manager at PizzaExpress.

He joins new manging director Noel D’Arcy, who told M&C in April that the group would consider a future crowdfunding push despite withdrawing its £3m mini-bond after being “overwhelmed” by interest from investors.

D’Arcy said the management would now take a step back to consider their options but stressed nothing was off then table.

He said the company was in negotiations on new sites and was close heads of terms with developers and landlords on some sites.
