Barburrito, the Manchester-based Mexican-style casual dining chain, is close to securing its second site in London, in Farringdon, one of two it hopes to add in the capital by the end of the year.

M&C Report understands that the seven-strong group is set to take the unit at 5 Cowcross Street. It opened its first London site earlier this year at Paddington Station.

Co-founder Morgan Davies told M&C Report that the group hopes to secure two or three more sites by the end of the year and a further five to six next year.

He said that the group’s first site in the capital at Paddington Station was trading above expectations and that trading across the group’s estate was currently ahead by 10-15% against last year.

The Business Growth Fund (BGF)-backed company opened a site in Nottingham and a further unit in Leeds over the summer.

The seven-strong group received a £3.25m investment from the BGF last April to help it expand from six to c18 sites over the next four years

The chain, which was founded by Davies and Paul Kilpatrick, also hopes to add sites in Liverpool and Birmingham.
