Pan-Asian restaurant concept Banana Tree will turn its attention back to London after the opening of its third regional restaurant in Oxford at the end of the summer, M&C has learnt.

The long-anticipated site in Oxford, which has been delayed due to planning consent from Oxford University, will have space for 110 covers.

Anne Chow, co-founder and director at the company, told M&C she and William will turn their attention to looking for sites in London after the summer.

“We now have three outside London and have decided it’s time to look again in London; we would like another central London site, maybe with a smaller model.”

She said the concept has been proven in large and smaller spaces and believes this flexibility is essential given the competitive nature of the property market.

The group, which has seen c.7% like for like sales growth across the estate, is also considering introducing the concept to neighbourhoods and residential parts of London.

Meanwhile William is continuing to develop a high street, retail concept that will be unveiled as soon as a first site has been secured.
