BabaBoom, the gourmet kebab concept, has left its Deliveroo Editions kitchen in Whitechapel after six months to concentrate on opening a new restaurant.
The concept, led by former Nando’s director Eve Bugler, is believed to be close to securing its second site.
Bugler told MCA: “It has worked quite well, but we want to open a proper second site and move onto the next thing
“It was good for us to be in East London. What’s interesting is our Deliveroo sales in Battersea went up 30-40% at the point we entered Whitechapel. It was an interesting experiment.”
Bugler has previously told MCA of her desire to turn BabaBoom into a national brand alongside her co-founders, former Nando’s director Travis Fish, and ex Geronimo Inns food director Jono Jenkins.
The concept has attracted backers including ex Nando’s chief executive David Niven, Wahaca’s Mark Selby, Eren Ali of Las Iguanas and Oakman Inns’ Peter Borg-Neal.
Whitechapel Editions is also home to the White Rabbit Fund-backed trio of concepts Island Poke, Namma by Kricket, and the Chinese Takeaway, Andrew Wong’s delivery only concept.
