Yorkshire Meatball Co., the fledgling Harrogate-based meatball concept, is looking to expand across Yorkshire and the UK, M&C Report has learnt.

The Harrogate restaurant opened in March this year by father and son team David and Gareth Atkinson and has gone on to win local and national awards for its concept.

Gareth told M&C Report: “We have plans to expand. We would like to be in York, Leeds, Sheffield and move outside Yorkshire to London and the south but taking the Yorkshire brand with us.”

He said the group is currently looking at Leeds and York for the next sites and anticipates the second site will be “in the not too distant future”.

Atkinson said the group, which has received funding from a government start up loan and external private investors as well as an executive chef who is taking a silent role in the business, could grow “as big as possible”.

“We were confident in the business idea but there was always an element of will people actually like it, we never expected to be winning so many awards.”

“We were so proud of the restaurant and have been welcomed in to Harrogate with open arms, despite an already crowded market place. We would like to take it as far as we can.”

The restaurant serves a choice of pork, beef and vegetarian balls with a choice of pastas, potato and lentil ‘beds’, topped off with a range of sauces and condiments.
