Red Dog Restaurants, operator of American-style BBQ concept Red Dog Saloon and Red Dog Sandwiches, has secured its first regional site as it looks to up its expansion rate, M&C Report has learnt.

The group, which is led by Tom Berk, who previously worked as a restaurant and events manager at companies, including Conran Restaurants and Carluccio’s, has a secured a c2,000sq ft unit next to Tortilla in the foodcourt at Lakeside, Essex, for its core brand, with an opening scheduled for this autumn.

The company is currently also in advanced talks on taking the Dining Plaice site in Berwick Street, Soho, for openings this year.

It is also thought to be in talks on a further regional site.

The company currently operates to restaurant sites in Hoxton Square and Clapham, plus Red Dog Sandwiches next to the Hoxton Square unit.

Earlier this year, it hired advisers Restaurant Property to find sites for both brands in London and in target locations such as Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham.

It is look for sites varying from 750sq ft for the sandwiches format up to 5,000sq ft for Saloons.

Theo Fordham at Lunson Mitchenall acted on the Lakeside deal.
