The Head of Steam in Durham, which is owned by Hartlepool-based Camerons Brewery, has been voted the best pub in Durham by customers of East Coast Trains.

It came top of a social media poll organised by East Coast Trains.

Joe Smith, pub operations & estates director at Camerons Brewery, said: “It is a fantastic achievement for our Durham venue to be voted as the best pub in Durham.

“We have a great team in place at the Head Of Steam, and this award is testament to the hard work, passion and knowledge of all of the staff working there.  We are delighted that they have been recognised by the people who use East Coast Trains, and we value this accolade even more given that it has been voted for by the people who visit this amazing venue”.

Nick Wood, social media manager at East Coast Trains, said: “We ran a four-week campaign with our Facebook community to vote for their favourite pubs at 15 of our key destinations, from which we have produced a crowd-sourced pub guide. The competition was fierce across all destinations and we’re pleased to see the Head Of Steam getting the vote from our Durham pub fans.”
