Winnicott Group, the new pub venture from former Camino operations director Dan Heath, has lined up three openings in south east London, M&C understands.

The new venture, which is aimed at operating community-focused pubs, will re-open the Monarch in Stoke Newington as the Winnicott Stoke Newington later this month.

It will be followed by the re-opening after refurbishment of the Old Justice pub in Bermondsey at the Winnicott, Bermondsey before the end of the year.

M&C understands that a third undisclosed site is lined up in Hackney Wick.

Heath, who spent 15 years with Camino, is the managing director of Winnicott, which hopes to “inject life back into these historic buildings, with contemporary interiors, simple affordable food, some of London’s fine new craft ales and locally roasted coffee”.

Heath joined the tapas concept, which is backed by the Business Growth Fund, in 2000.

He played a key part in the development of both Camino and the Big Chill concept.
