Weston Castle, the once 40-strong north west-based pub group, has filed a Company Voluntary Arrangement, MCA has learnt.
Stuart Rathmell Insolvency has been appointed supervisor of the arrangement, which lists HM Revenue & Customs as a creditor owed £950,000.
The document filed to Companies House also lists managing director Lesley Humphrys as a creditor owed £105,000.
Former managing director Chris Tulloch, whom Humphrys succeeded in 2014, resigned from the board earlier this year.
The company was based on a wet-led community pub model and at one point was eyeing growth to beyond 50 sites. It has several leases with Star Pubs & Bars over the years but MCA understands that relationship ended prior to the CVA.
