Weston Castle, the northern England-based pub operator, is opening its 32nd site, and its fifth Star Pubs & Bars lease, this week.
MD Lesley Humphreys told M&C Report: “We’ve picked up another – the Chestergate in Stockport. We got it on Monday, and will reopen it on Friday.”
According to Star, the Chestergate is a substantial 19th century pub that occupies a prominent position in Stockport town centre. It has an open plan lounge which can accommodate 75 customers with a raised area, which would be ideal for a dining and coffee offer. A function room on the first floor can hold 20/25 seated customers or up to 100 standing guests.
Humphreys, who has a one third stake in the business following a management buyout last August, said the business is hoping to conclude its funding negotiations in due course, which will help it meet its ambitions of growing the estate to around 50 sites over two to three years – a mixture of “freeholds and really good leaseholds”.
