Intertain has continued its investment programme with the re-opening of Walkabout in Cardiff following a £1m refurbishment, its biggest yet.

The refurbishment includes a wave design bar on the ground floor, with a new dance floor and updated sound and light systems, plus a mezzanine level featuring a “Surfers Bar” VIP area and a new “Reef Bar” downstairs.

John Leslie, Intertain chief executive, said: “We aim to create a great atmosphere in our venues and ensure customers have a fantastic time, whatever their reason for visiting. I’m sure that the redevelopment of Cardiff, our biggest refurbishment in the programme, will show the great return on investment seen by the other refurbished venues.”

It becomes Intertain’s 10th major refurbishment following work at nine Walkabouts including Watford, Hanley, and its flagship site in London’s Temple. Last month it unveiled a £500,000 spend to turn Bar Risa in Leeds into a new tiki bar concept called Maluko.
