Italian wine cafe concept Veeno has further strengthened its openings pipeline by securing a second site in Leeds and lining up openings in Chester and Warrington.

The eight-strong group, which was founded in 2013 by Nino Caruso and Andrea Zecchino, will open its latest site in Leicester next Thursday and will follow it up with an opening of a 100-cover unit in the Wellington Place development on 8 December.

The group’s first site in Leeds opened in July 2014.

MCA understands that the group hopes to open in Chester in the first quarter of the year and is in talks on a site in city’s Northgate area.

It is also in talks to open at the Golden Square shopping centre in Warrington.

Earlier this year Veeno set out its growth plans, which include a long term goal of operating up to 80 sites by the end of 2020.

The group is looking to double up in cities in which it already has a presence and is also targeting openings in Chester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bath and Glasgow.

The growth will be funded through a mixture of bank debt, cashflow and outside investment with franchising a possible option to accelerate the plan.

“We are looking forward to opening our second wine café in Leeds, especially in such a fast growing area of the city. It will be a fantastic addition to our brand,” said co-founder Zecchino.
