David Tracey, former director of brands and standards at G1 Group, has followed former colleague David McDowall in joining BrewDog, M&C Report has learnt.

Tracey left G1 earlier this year after six years with the company.

He is to become head of retail development at BrewDog as it looks to open 12 new bars in the UK this year as part of plans to operate 100 sites over the next few years.

It is thought that Tracey will help with the expansion of the group’s bars and also with the further ramping up of its food and coffee offer.

The company is set to open a more food-focused concept called Dog Eat Dog at the ex-Giraffe site in Islington. It is thought that this site will now have a wider food offer than the hot dog-led format first mooted last year.

G1 Group, the Scottish leisure operator led by Stefan King, is shaking up its operational team, which saw the departures of Tracey and fellow director James Brown.

At the start of the year, the 53-strong company appointed Mike Horan, formerly of Ha Ha Bar & Grill and The Living Room, as its new operations director.
