Thorley Taverns, the Kent-based pub, restaurant and hotel group, has bought the freehold of two of the pubs in estate from Thanet Council for more than £1m.

The Council sold the freeholds of The Pavilion, which Thorley Taverns has been the leaseholder since 1999; and York Gate House in Broadstairs, Kent at auction yesterday, the Thanet Gazette reports.

Thorley Taverns bought The Pavilion for £460,000 – up from its guide price of £250k - £260k; and the York Gate House for £620k, up from the guide price of £350k.

In January Phil Thorley, operations director at Thorley Taverns, told M&C Report the company is poised for growth: “We always have our radar up but we certainly see 2015 as a year where we have our ducks in a row and we can look to grow the business.”
