The Marquess Tavern, the refurbished Young’s pub owned by Huw Gott and Will Beckett, won best gastropub at the Time Out Eating and Drinking Awards 2006.

Among the other winners at the seventeenth Time Out awards was Arbutus, the French Soho-based bistro owned by Anthony Demetre and Will Smith opened in May this year, which was awarded best new restaurant.

The restaurant-side of the awards went to Sam’s Brasserie & Bar for best local restaurant; Benihana, the international teppanyaki chain founded by ex-Olympic wrestler Roki Aoki, won best family restaurant and Gaucho Piccadilly, a branch of Gaucho Grill led by Zeev Godiv, was judged best steak restaurant.
