Admiral Taverns chief executive Kevin Georgel has said the MCA Tenant Track survey shows that pubcos are investing in their relationship with tenants more than ever before.

Despite ongoing debates about the pubs code dominating the tenanted and leased sector during 2015, pubco ratings improved across the board by 4.8% with Admiral the highest ranked national pubco and second only to St Austell.

Georgel said: “From an industry-wide perspective. I think the results are reflective of the ongoing commitment to the model. We talk about investment in the physical infrastructure of our businesses but perhaps what’s less talked about is the investment in the people and the constant review and improvement of the support that’s on offer. I don’t remember a time when that investment was being taken more seriously.”

He said from Admiral’s point of view, he was particularly proud of the ratings for BDMs, achieving an average rating of 8.18 out of 10, with 1 in 3 licensees giving their Admiral BDM a maximum 10 out of 10 score.”

He said the appointment earlier this year of Andy Hodgson as operations director was a further step forward in evolving the support network for tenants even further.

The results of the Tenant Track follow Admiral’s success at the Publican Awards, where it was named Best Leased/Tenanted Pub Company of the year.

Georgel said: “We won in 2013 and my view was that we needed to go away and commit to raising the bar further and the win on Tuesday was an endorsement of the work that we have done and a validation of the continued progress we have made.

“It’s also a recognition for our licensees. Across our estate we see countless examples every day of their relentless hard work, passion for the trade, pride in the local community and in particular the unique entrepreneurialism which makes this industry so exciting.”
