Tadcaster Pub Company managing director, James Crawford-Parker, says the company has no plans to convert more of its pubs from tenanted to managed.

Currently nine of the northern England-based company’s pubs are managed and Crawford-Porter said he was pleased with their progress but was not considering adding to that tally.

He said: “It was not always intended as a permanent move but those pubs performed so well as managed that we decided to keep going.

“I’m happy with where we are at the moment and there’s no plans to bring any more under managed.”

He said he was not surprised to see so many tenanted and leased operators experimenting with managed houses, saying: “In some cases it’s probably been more necessity than choice but for a certain type of pub it can make a huge difference.”

On expansion plans he said: “We would love to expand but at the moment we can’t find a way to do that. It’s been quite difficult to raise finance.
