We Are Bar Group, formerly Kornicis, has announced the departure of chief executive Richard Stringer with immediate effect.
Stringer led the management buy-in of the Jamies and Smollensky’s operator in October 2015 with Ian Banks, who became chief financial officer. Banks is now acting chief executive.
The group rebranded in September as it converted the Jamies in Bishopsgate to its new eponymous brand.
The group immediately identified the Saint in Paternoster Square as the next target as part of a proposed pipeline of five conversions to the We Are Bar brand from the 16-strong estate.
Chairman, Simon Vardigans said that Stringer had led the business with energy and passion since leading a management buy-in in 2015; however, following a review of strategy, he had decided he would leave the business with a plan to explore alternative opportunities.
He added: “The board thanks Richard for his considerable contribution and wishes him well in the future.”
Stringer previously worked for Faucet Inn, Barracuda and JD Wetherspoon.
